NEW JERSEY--- A small plane crashed and then burst into flames in Linden on Sunday night, but it was not immediately known whether anyone was seriously injured.
The plane went down just before 5 p.m., but it was not clear what caused the crash or how many people were on board, Police Chief Michael Boyle said. Details about the plane also were not immediately available.
Mayor Richard Gerbounka told The Star-Ledger of Newark that the aircraft went down near Linden Avenue, not far from Linden Airport, and then burst into flames. Local firefighters, though, were able to quickly extinguish most of the blaze.
Details about the plane, including its make and where it was headed at the time of the crash, were not immediately available.
